Instant Testing Device for Anemia
|
Anemia is an abnormal
blood condition characterised by a lower than normal number of red blood
cells, which leads to deficient hemoglobin levels. There are a number of
different types of anemia and the symptoms vary by type. Evidence shows
that people suffering from diseases such as diabetes, heart disease,
cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic kidney
disease and HIV are at a higher risk of developing anemia. Also, certain
body conditions like heavy menstrual periods, pregnancy, nutritional
deficiencies and old age may place women and children especially, at a
higher risk for anemia. It is estimated that about 20 million people could
have some form of anemia in the United States today.
The overwhelming demand for a faster, instant and more cost-effective
method compared to the time consuming laboratory tests to test for anemia,
has increased the need for a new testing device.
Recognising this high demand and strong market value, Biosafe Medical
Technologies has designed the world's first FDA-approved, rapid response
disposable test for anemia, the home-based and instant BIOSAFE Anemia
Meter. It is a quick, convenient, and accurate way for the physician to
determine if a person is anemic, and also enables the patient to screen
for anemia at home, in less than 20 minutes. A most comprehensive user
instruction guide and a compilation of results in the form of a 'score
rating' and a clear color scale, make it extremely simple to use and
instantly identifies and diagnoses anemia.
Jeremy Warner, product manager of Biosafe Medical Technologies tells
Technical Insights , "A standard doctor visit is considerably more costly
and time consuming. BIOSAFE's Anemia Meter is not only cost-effective, but
as accurate as a standard laboratory anemia test."
In summary, the accuracy of result, easy usability and cost-effectiveness
of the anemia testing meter may help to identify many more patients who
are at high risk for this dangerous disease condition, and thus enable
them to undergo timely treatment.
